Should I bathe my baby every day?
Yes No
Most babies only need a bath 2 to 3 times a week; excessive bathing can lead to dry skin.
Shiatsu for your little one
You're not the only one who enjoys a relaxing massage. Your baby loves nothing more than to feel mom's gentle touch. Especially if your baby is fussy, it's a great way to calm your little one while also spending quality time together. Here are some tidbits to get you started.
1. Get your baby ready for relaxation with a soothing bath.
2. Set the scene, make sure the room is warm enough for your baby to be comfortable with few or no clothes on.
3. Speak to your baby and make eye contact while massaging her. This will stimulate your baby's senses and ensure bonding.
4. Be tender when you massage your baby. Apply light pressure, just using your fingertips in small areas. For the larger areas, just lightly use your palm.
5. Head, shoulders, knees, and toes and everything in between. Always massage your baby from top to bottom.
HEAD: Gentle circular touches to the forehead and temples.
ARMS: Form a ring with your fingers and thumb around your baby's arm. Start at the armpit and move downwards, but be extra careful around your baby's elbows, they tend to be very sensitive.
STOMACH: Gently stroke your baby's tummy in a circular, clockwise motion, using the outer edges of your hands. Follow with gently pushing your baby's knees towards the stomach and counting to ten.
LEGS: Slightly flex the legs and move them in a bicycle fashion.
BACK: Use your palm in a circular motion but avoid the spinal area, as it's extremely sensitive. When completed, gently place your hands on your baby's back so he can feel your warmth.
FEET: First put soft pressure on each toe, then work your way to the foot.

So there you have it, now you have one relaxed baby on your hands. Mini massages aren't only a great way to bond with your baby. They also stimulate your baby's sense and teach the benefits of healthy, warm touch.
