While Jack Frost can bring a lot of joy into your home, it doesn't necessary do the same when it comes to your baby's skin. With frequent change of temperature from the chilly outdoors to the warm and cozy indoors, your baby's skin is apt to lose its moisture more quickly and become dry. To help care for baby's delicate skin, you may want to bathe your baby only 2-3 times per week. Most babies, even those that are crawling, don't require more bathing than this, although the hands, face and diaper area should be kept clean and dry. A gentle, soap-free, tear-free baby wash product should provide effective cleansing without over-drying, while a gentle baby lotion should help to seal in the moisture.
In the spirit of giving, here are some tips on us:
- Reduce the temperature in your home. (You could also put a cold-mist humidifier in your baby's room, to keep his skin moist while he sleeps.)
- Protect your baby from wind and cold.
- Avoid harsh, drying soap and detergents.
- Ensure that bath water is warm, not hot.
- Keep your baby hydrated.
