Saurabh Desai is a Principal Scientist at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. (Johnson & Johnson). He leads the scientific team for hair care at Johnson & Johnson and is noted for his development of a structured surfactant system unique to Johnson's equity.
Saurabh has extensive skills with research in the Personal Care Products industry leading to development and implementation of innovative technologies to improve product performance while achieving desired cost-benefit. At Johnson & Johnson, Saurabh took a scientific lead in the launch of the AVEENO® Brand's first hair care line, NOURISH+, superior hair care products derived from newly identified technologies. In this role he conducted salon/consumer tests to validate key performance and aesthetic attributes versus benchmark, while also conducting experiments to determine interaction of key ingredients with various functionalities to the polymer technology. Saurabh also partnered with outside research labs and external business partners, as a way to help improve the formulas.
Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Saurabh was the Senior Research Scientist at the Colgate Palmolive Company where he led development of shampoo and conditioner formulations with implementation of key patented technologies.
Saurabh received his B.A. in chemistry with a minor in economics at Rutgers University. From Rutgers, he went on to Fairleigh Dickinson University where he received an M.A in cosmetic chemistry. In addition, he has received several awards for his accomplishments. In 2007, Saurabh received an Encore Platinum Award for the development of structured surfactant system, and in 2005 he received a Young Scientist Award (SCC) for outstanding achievements in hair care.
